Digging Deeper

I want to start off by saying how excited I am to complete all26 campus involvement tasks throughout this semester. I think it is a great way to improve my communication skills and get to know Southern’s campus well. With that said, I was extremely excited to complete my first task. I took the time to go visit my English professor, Richard Stirling, during his office hours. Dr. Stirling is available on Wednesdays, from 9:00- 10:00 am. His contact information consists of his email, which is stirling_rb@yahoo.com. I went to his office prepared with 2 questions about the current course I was taking. “Will I be able to fix the papers I hand in?” and “What will we be covering the most of this semester”. For my first question, Dr. Stirling responded that I was allowed to hand in three drafts of the papers I hand in before receiving a final grade. I was pleased to hear this response because I know this will personally help me enormously. For my 2nd question, Dr. Stirling told me that this course covers Academic Reading, Academic Writing and Summary Writing. He went into detail about these course requirements and told me that everything we learn in the classroom, I will soon be able to use in real life situations. It was a pleasure talking to my English professor and I now am more informed and eager to learn!
