Hopeful to Succeed

College is not mandatory, it’s a choice. A choice that I choose to take on, knowing that it will benefit and shape me in various ways. College is a learning environment in which one takes their first steps to perusing their passion as a career. Not only does college degree help find one a job in the future, but it also helps a person find out who they are and who they want to be. College helps an individual with communication skills and applicants that will later be used in the real world. College accomplishes ones courage, to continue their learning experience and taking risks. Being a college student is simply all about pride to me. Pride, on the track to perusing my dreams, completely independent, in a different state. Being brave enough to be on my own and making my own decisions. Academically, I believe being a college student gives me an opportunity to start perusing my dream career. I know each of my classes will help me succeed in the future.  Not only will I be further learning about my desired career, but also I will be learning about real life situations. Socially, I will meet new people and improve communication skills as a college student. For all of these positive things that come with the college experience, one must attend a college that he/she loves. That’s why I chose to attend Southern Connecticut State University. The kind and supportive surroundings had my mind made up from the very start. The challenging nursing program helped me set a goal for myself to do beyond well in my academics. It motivates me to try my hardest so I can make myself proud. I expect SCSU to help me be a better person. I am hopeful that I will graduate as part of the Southern nursing class of 2017 with friends for life by my side.
